# \[5] 16 - Operating a Vehicle Without a Valid Commercial Permit

**Offense Classification:** **Misdemeanor**

#### **Definition:**

Operating a Vehicle Without a Valid Commercial Permit occurs when an individual **uses a motor vehicle for commercial purposes—such as taxi services, towing, delivery, or transportation for hire—without the appropriate business license or commercial permit issued by a governing authority**. This offense ensures public safety and regulatory compliance in the use of vehicles for profit.

* The individual was **operating a motor vehicle**.
* The vehicle was being used for **commercial purposes**, such as transporting passengers or cargo for compensation.
