# \[6] 13 - Broken or Missing Mirrors / Unsafe Vehicle Condition

**Offense Classification:** **Infraction**

#### **Definition:**

This offense occurs when a vehicle is **operated with missing, broken, or non-functional safety equipment** that makes the vehicle unsafe for legal road use. This includes mirrors, brake lights, turn signals, windshields, or other required systems.

#### **Elements of the Crime:**

* The vehicle was **driven on public roads**.
* The vehicle had **missing or defective safety equipment** required by law.
* The unsafe condition **posed a risk to the driver, passengers, or other motorists**.

#### **Penalties:**

**Infraction:**

* **Fine:** $300
* **Fix-It Ticket:** May be resolved with timely proof of repair
* **Towing:** Optional if the vehicle is deemed road-unsafe
