# \[6] 14 - Excessively Tinted Windows

**Offense Classification:** **Infraction**

#### **Definition:**

Excessively Tinted Windows occur when a vehicle’s windows are **darkened beyond the legal tint percentage limit**, restricting visibility for the driver and law enforcement. Tint laws typically apply to front side windows and windshield strips.

#### **Elements of the Crime:**

* The vehicle was **operated on public roads**.
* One or more windows had **tinting darker than legally permitted**.
* The tint **obstructed visibility or posed a safety/enforcement issue**.

#### **Penalties:**

**Infraction:**

* **Fine:** $250
* **Fix-It Ticket:** May be dismissed upon proof of legal tint adjustment
* **Inspection Order:** May be issued for repeat violations
