# \[6] 17 - Failure to Display Registration or Plates

**Offense Classification:** **Infraction**

#### **Definition:**

This offense occurs when a vehicle is **operated without properly mounted and visible license plates or registration stickers**, in violation of vehicle code requirements.

#### **Elements of the Crime:**

* The vehicle was **in motion or parked on a public road**.
* The vehicle **lacked proper registration plates**, or they were **not clearly visible**.
* No **valid temporary or alternative permit** was displayed.

#### **Penalties:**

**Infraction:**

* **Fine:** $300
* **Fix-It Ticket:** May be dismissed with proof of compliance
* **Vehicle Stop Order:** May be issued for repeat offenses
