# \[6] 9 - Illegal Parking

**Offense Classification:** **Infraction**

#### **Definition:**

Illegal Parking occurs when a vehicle is **stopped, parked, or left standing in a prohibited area**, including no-parking zones, blocking curbs, or other unauthorized locations.

#### **Elements of the Crime:**

* The vehicle was **stationary in a location where parking is prohibited** by signage, curb markings, or ordinance.
* The vehicle was **not actively loading or unloading in a permitted zone**.
* The action **obstructed traffic, access, or violated posted restrictions**.

#### **Penalties:**

**Infraction:**

* **Fine:** $250
* **Towing and Impound Fees:** May apply if obstructing or abandoned

**Additional Consequences:**

* **Cumulative violations may result in vehicle booting or registration hold**
