# \[7] 3 - Unlawful Possession of a Class 3 Weapon

**Offense Classification:** **Aggravated Felony**

#### **Definition:**

This offense involves **possession of military-grade or high-lethality weapons**, including **assault rifles and explosive devices**, without legal authorization. These weapons pose significant threats to public safety and are highly restricted.

#### **Class 3 Weapon Examples:**

* Assault rifles (e.g., AR-15, AK-47)
* Rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs)
* Improvised explosive devices (IEDs)
* Any launcher or explosive-based weapon

#### **Elements of the Crime:**

* The individual **knowingly possessed** a Class 3 weapon.
* The weapon was **illegally obtained, unregistered, or prohibited for civilian ownership**.
* Possession occurred **without special licensing, authorization, or in a prohibited area**.

* **Fine:** Up to $100,000
* **Weapon Seizure and Destruction**
