# \[8] 14 - Use or Possession of Controlled Substances in a Restricted Area

**Offense Classification:** **Felony**

#### **Definition:**

This applies when a person is **found using or in possession of any controlled substance** within or near a **restricted area**, including schools, government buildings, hospitals, and correctional facilities.

#### **Restricted Areas Include:**

* Schools / Daycares
* Government buildings / courthouses
* Hospitals / clinics
* Correctional facilities
* Public event zones (as posted)

#### **Penalties:**

* **Jail Time:** 2 to 6 years
* **Fine:** Up to $20,000
* **Mandatory Community Service**
* **Revocation of Probation or Parole (if applicable)**
