# MCC 6 – Control Your Dog

**Offense Classification:** Infraction

**Definition:**\
Failure to Control a Dog occurs when a dog is not properly restrained and behaves in a dangerous manner, including causing injury or creating a reasonable fear of injury.

**Elements of the Crime:**

* The individual was responsible for the dog.
* The dog acted dangerously (injury or threatening conduct).
* The owner failed to restrain or control the animal.

**Penalties:**

* Jail Time: 0 Months
* Fine: $250
* Additional: Animal may be remanded to animal control if it causes serious injury.

**Related Charges:**

* MCC 8 – Loose Animals Law
* \[1] 15 – Assault (if dog was intentionally set on a person)
